Nigeria has a population of about 140 million people comprising over 250 ethnic groups. The country’s official language is English although it also has three other major languages (namely, Hausa, Igbo and Yoruba) as well as a variety of local languages. Religion-wise, you find almost an equal amount of Christians as well as Muslims.

St. Joseph Orphanage - Nigeria

St Joseph Orphanage in Ogoja, Nigeria.

St. Joseph Orphanage School is located in the Ogoja area in Cross River State in Nigeria.  Ground was broken 10 years ago in November, 1996 and the first school year started in February, 2000.  The orphanage and school are both in full swing.  We are running a 5-year primary school program and a 6-year secondary school program.  St. Joseph’s Orphanage School has become the pride of the community thanks to the good people who have been supporting us.  Click here to see our orphanage in action!

There are about 550 children who attend St. Joseph’s now, and over 700 children have gone through the program.  But additional work is needed.  St. Joseph’s was set up as a primary school.  The children have gotten bigger!  We need to enhance our secondary school program, and to build new dormitories for the older students.  We need to set up a clinic, health programs, and vocational programs to enable these older students to become productive members of their village.  We need your help!  If you wish to donate to the orphanage, please click here.  You can sponsor a child today!
