Our Mission
Abode for Children is dedicated to serving orphaned and impoverished children by providing care, education, and faith formation.
Our mission is rooted in faith and inspired by James 1:27: “Religion that is pure and undefiled before God and the Father is this: to care for orphans and widows in their affliction.”
Our Impact:
Over the years, more than 1,200 children have found a home in our care facilities.
More than 6,000 children have benefited from our educational programs.

At Abode for Children, our mission flows from the belief that every person is created in the image and likeness of God and possesses inherent dignity.
Rooted in the rich tradition of Catholic Social Teaching, we serve each child with love, compassion, and respect. Through a loving home, Catholic education, and faith formation, we help children discover their God-given purpose and the hope found in Christ.
Hope in Action: Our Work in India
What began with an invitation from the Diocese of Guntur to serve children in need has grown into a thriving Catholic apostolate rooted in faith, compassion, and hope.
Founder of Abode for Children, Thomas Rutkoski, answered Christ’s call to serve those most in need after witnessing the suffering of orphaned and vulnerable children during an international trip.

For more than 25 years, God has worked through Abode for Children to care for orphaned and vulnerable children. Together with generous supporters around the world, we continue to provide children with a home, a Catholic education, and the hope found in Christ.

Abode for Children was founded as an outgrowth of Gospa Missions, a nonprofit organization. Gospa proclaims the Gospel through evangelization, while Abode for Children expresses that same mission through works of mercy. Because Gospa Missions provides administrative and operational support as well as proceeds from its religious goods store, Amazing Grace Books & Gifts by Gospa Missions, Abode for Children can direct more resources to its life-changing work.

Our store, Amazing Grace Books & Gifts by Gospa Missions, located in Evans City, PA, has been the home base of our mission since 1994. We offer thousands of Catholic books, gifts, and devotional items in our store, with access to even more special-order products to help you find exactly what you are looking for. Our selection includes religious jewelry, books, statues, Bibles, missals, rosaries and a wide variety of inspirational items for every occasion.
Each purchase also helps support the mission of Abode for Children, providing care, education and hope for the vulnerable children we serve.
